San Diego is heating up this weekend, and so is the events calendar!

The Food + Wine Festival brings top chefs and tastings to the waterfront, Fleet Week opens the gates for Navy ship tours, and the Coronado Island Film Festival celebrates its 11th year.

Add Gem Diego at Liberty Station, a coastal canyon hike in Del Mar, and 200+ live music events across the county.

With sunshine and highs reaching 85°, it's a great weekend to get out and explore.

💎 Gem Diego 2026 - Sat, Nov 7 & Sun, Nov 8 • 10:00 AM–6:00 PM Sat, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM Sun • Liberty Station Conference Center, Point Loma. Explore dazzling gemstones, minerals, fossils, crystals, and handcrafted jewelry. Browse dealers and exhibits, watch lapidary demonstrations, and discover the art of gem cutting and polishing. Free admission and parking.

🍷 San Diego Food + Wine Festival - Fri, Nov 6–Sun, Nov 8 • Various times • JULEP and Embarcadero Marina Park North, San Diego. The 22nd annual festival wraps up with three signature events: Friday's Icons + Legends, Saturday's Grand Tasting featuring top chefs and wineries, and Sunday's Grand Fiesta celebrating Baja flavors, tacos, and Latin music. Tickets required. Ages 21+.

🎬 Coronado Island Film Festival - Wed, Nov 4–Sun, Nov 8 • Various times and venues • Coronado. Celebrate 11 years of cinematic storytelling with five days of independent films, premieres, filmmaker discussions, workshops, and special screenings. The festival also features its Culinary Cinema series, short films, and the Leonard Maltin Industry Tribute Awards Gala.

⚓ Fleet Week San Diego - Fri, Nov 6–Sun, Nov 15 • Various times and locations • San Diego. Celebrate San Diego's military community with ship tours, live music, military displays, and family activities. This weekend's highlight is Meet the Fleet at Naval Base San Diego on Saturday, Nov 7, from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, featuring Navy ship tours, equipment displays, food trucks, and entertainment. Free admission.

Tucked into a quiet coastal canyon in Del Mar, Crest Canyon offers a peaceful escape among rare Torrey pines, coastal sage scrub, and seasonal wildflowers. This roughly 1.2-mile loop features gentle climbs, winding paths, and views across the canyon. It's a great choice for a short morning hike before the weekend heats up.

Matthew Sherman purchased the land in 1867 and began subdividing it in 1869, making Sherman Heights one of San Diego's oldest neighborhoods. Golden Hill, La Jolla, and Pacific Beach all trace their beginnings to 1887, nearly two decades later.
