Answer: ✅ B) Escondido High vs San Diego High — In 1898, the San Diego High Cavers (then called the Hilltoppers) traveled two days by covered wagon to Escondido for what became the county’s first ever recorded high-school football game …

….and won 6-0.

Did you know?
That muddy matchup predates the founding of most local schools by decades and is recognized by the CIF San Diego Section as the start of organized high-school football in the region. 🏆
