In this Issue
There’s plenty happening around San Diego this weekend, from wine tasting in Carlsbad and classic cars at Sunset Cliffs to Greek food and dancing in Cardiff. Restaurant Week gets underway Sunday, local artists take over Downtown El Cajon, and we found an ancient volcano hiding in plain sight in Carlsbad.
Friday also marks the 25th anniversary of September 11. We’ve included a local remembrance aboard the USS Midway for those who would like to commemorate the day.
And, as usual, a huge list of live music events. See the full live music calendar on the website.
Let’s dive in.

Your K-Cup Has Been Sitting in a Warehouse for Months
That grocery store pod? It was roasted long before it hit the shelf. Coffee starts losing flavor within weeks of roasting — which is why your morning cup tastes flat, no matter how nice your machine is.
Angelino's does it differently. A third-generation roaster in Los Angeles, they roast, grind, and seal every pod in-house for peak freshness, then ship it to your door within days of roasting. The difference is the first thing you'll notice: real aroma, real flavor, no bitterness.
Mix and match from 50+ specialty coffees, teas, and flavored blends — all Keurig®-compatible — and save more with every box you add, up to 34% off at 12+. Order once whenever you're running low, or subscribe for an extra 5% if that's easier. Entirely up to you.
New customers get 15% off their first order — applied automatically, no code needed.
🇲🇽 Old Town Fiestas Patrias – Sat. Sept. 12, 11 a.m.–4 p.m., Old Town

🚗 Sunset Cliffs Auto Show – Sat. Sept. 12, 10 a.m.–3 p.m., Ocean Beach
Classic and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles line Point Loma Avenue, with live music, food trucks, vendors, raffles and a kids zone.
🍽️ The Food
🍷 Fall Art & Wine Walk – Sat. Sept. 12, 2–5 p.m., The Forum Carlsbad

🥾 Outdoor Adventure - Lake Calavera Trails

The official Lake Loop Trail is about 1.9 miles, with plenty of connecting trails if you want to explore farther. Keep an eye out for birds and other wildlife along the water.

❓ San Diego History Trivia Answer
🥑 Answer: Reed. The original Reed avocado tree grew from a seed planted on James Reed's property in Carlsbad around 1948. Reed patented the variety in 1960. Known for its large, round fruit and creamy texture, it's still considered one of the best summer avocados for Southern California.
