🏁 NASCAR, Highland Games & Summer Fun

This weekend feels like the official start of summer in San Diego. NASCAR makes its long-awaited debut at North Island, the Scottish Highland Games return to Mission Valley, free concerts pop up across the county, and Father's Day offers another reason to get out and explore. Add in sunshine, temperatures in the low 70s, and more than 280 live music events, and you've got plenty of options for the weekend ahead.

The Pistol Blonde headlines this summer concert featuring live music, food vendors, and plenty of space to spread out with friends and family. Pack a chair, grab dinner, and enjoy a classic Southern California summer evening. 🌅🎶

🎶 Summer Fun on the 101 – June 20, Leucadia
Celebrate the first weekend of summer with live music, local vendors, a beer garden, and family-friendly activities at Leucadia Roadside Park. This festival captures everything people love about the North County coastal lifestyle. 🌊🎸

🎵 Twilight in the Park Concerts – June 20, Balboa Park
Enjoy a summer night under the stars as Full Strength Band takes the stage at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion. Bring a blanket, settle in with friends and family, and experience one of San Diego's favorite seasonal concert series. 🌅🎶

🎸 Music on Main – June 19, Downtown El Cajon
Enjoy a summer concert as Journeymen brings the classic hits of Journey to Downtown El Cajon's popular Music on Main series. Grab dinner from a nearby restaurant, bring a chair, and sing along to some of rock's most recognizable anthems. 🎤🎶

🏴 San Diego Scottish Highland Games – June 20–21, Mission Valley
Caber tossing, bagpipes, Highland dancing, and Celtic traditions take over Mission Valley River Park for a weekend of Scottish culture and competition. It's a unique San Diego tradition filled with music, food, history, and plenty of family-friendly entertainment. 🎵⚔️

🍖 Smoke on the Coast BBQ Competition – June 20, Oceanside
Pitmasters battle for bragging rights while serving up barbecue samples at Oceanside Ace Hardware's annual BBQ competition benefiting Rady Children's Hospital. Expect smoky flavors, grilling demonstrations, family-friendly fun, and plenty of inspiration for your next backyard cookout. 🔥🍖

🎆 Big Bay Boom – July 4, San Diego Bay
San Diego's largest fireworks show lights up the waterfront with multiple barges launching synchronized displays around the bay. It's one of the region's most anticipated summer traditions. 🎇⚓

Answer: B) SeaWorld

SeaWorld San Diego opened on March 21, 1964, making it the very first SeaWorld park. Originally envisioned by four UCLA graduates as an underwater-themed restaurant and marine life attraction, the concept evolved into a marine park when they realized they couldn't build the large aquarium they had imagined. Instead, they created a destination where visitors could see dolphins, sea lions, and other marine animals up close.

The park opened on 22 acres along Mission Bay and attracted more than 400,000 visitors in its first year. Its success helped establish Mission Bay as one of San Diego's premier tourist destinations and eventually led to additional SeaWorld parks in Florida, Ohio, and Texas. Today, SeaWorld remains one of the city's most recognizable attractions, welcoming millions of visitors each year. 🌊🐬
