The Upcoming Events

🎄Balboa Park December Nights The biggest (and free!) holiday festival in the city returns for two nights, turning Balboa Park into a dazzling hub of lights, music, attractions, and fantastic global food vendors. (Fri–Sat, Dec 5–6)

⛵San Diego Bay Parade of Lights An iconic San Diego tradition where approximately 80 lavishly decorated boats float across the Bay, dazzling crowds along the waterfront for two spectacular Sunday evenings. (Sun, Dec 14 & 21)

🍕 California Pizza Kitchen (Encinitas) North County rejoice! CPK is officially back in the area, setting up shop in Encinitas with their revamped look, signature California-style pizzas, and a full bar. Go check out the new indoor/outdoor space and grab a slice!

The Hike of the Week

⛰️ Cowles Mountain (The Scenic Way) Skip the super-crowded main trail and take the more scenic "back way" up to the summit (1,593 ft) of San Diego's tallest peak. It’s a rewarding workout with incredible panoramic views at the top.

Trivia Answer:

The correct answer is San Miguel Bay.

While he landed at what is now the tip of the Point Loma peninsula, Cabrillo named the enclosed port San Miguel. That name stood for 60 years until explorer Sebastian Vizcaino sailed into the port and officially renamed it San Diego in 1602.
